Terms and Conditions

Detailed below are the terms and conditions of the agreement between you / the client and us / the Owners of Gîtes de Sévenne

Please note we do not send reminders and failure to pay the full holiday cost when due will result in your booking being considered as cancelled by you.

  1. At no time can the number of people staying at the property exceed the maximum number allowed and must not exceed the number of people stipulated at the time of booking form unless the Owners have given their written permission.
  2. Payment and deposit – A non-refundable deposit of 30% of the total accommodation cost (including security / damage deposit – see below) will be charged to your payment card at the time of reservation. The remaining 70% balance will be charged to your payment card 6 weeks prior to the commencement of your stay. However, if the reservation is made within 6 weeks of the commencement date, the full rental amount will be charged at the time of reservation.
  3. Security / damage deposit – A security / damage deposit of 230.00€ per property for each rental period will be included in the accommodation cost.. This sum will be refunded to the client’s payment card, less any necessary deductions, shortly after the end of the rental period. However, the sum reserved by this clause shall not limit the client’s liability to the Owners.
  4. Payment – The Owners reserve the right to cancel the booking where full payment has not been received 6 weeks before the commencement date.
  5. Cancellation
    • If the client cancels the booking more than 6 weeks prior to the commencement date the Owners will refund any monies paid less the 30% non-refundable deposit.
    • If the client cancels the booking less than 6 weeks prior to the commencement date the Client will be liable for the full balance. (However, should the Owners be able to re-book the property for the same period we may, at our discretion, refund part or all of your 70% balance. Any expenses or losses incurred by the Owners will be deducted from the refundable amount
  6. Any chargeable expenses arising during the rental period must be settled with the Owners prior to departure.
  7. The client is strongly recommended to arrange comprehensive insurance, (including cancellation cover) and to have full cover for the party’s belongings, personal liability etc. since these are not covered by the Owner’s insurance. The Owners will not accept responsibility for damage to or loss of possessions or accident, injury, illness, or death of the client or any person whilst occupying the property. Health insurance is also advisable for clients not covered by the European E111 Card.
  8. The rental period shall commence at 1600hrs on the date of arrival and shall end at 1000hrs on the date of departure. Owners shall not be obliged to offer the accommodation before the time stated and the clients shall not be entitled to remain occupation after the time stated.
  9. Minimum booking / rental period:

  10. Guest Behaviour – All our guests are expected to behave reasonably and courteously to other guests and to staff at all times and we reserve the right to refuse your custom or charge your payment card should your behaviour cause unacceptable loss of business to the Owners due to any disruption.
  11. Children – Children are under the responsibility of their parents/guardians are to be supervised at all times and in all areas, especially around the swimming pool, duck pond and children’s play area. Cots, highchairs etc. are available free of charge by prior arrangement
  12. Energy – Prices are inclusive of electricity, water, gas etc. In the interests of the planet, the Owners request that Clients act responsibly with regards to energy consumption and do not waste resources. Low season rentals include a winter fuel surcharge.
  13. Cleanliness – The client agrees to be a considerate tenant and to take good care of the property. The cottage is thoroughly cleaned prior to the client’s arrival and must be left in a clean and tidy condition at the end of the rental period. Although final cleaning is included in the rental cost, the Owners reserve the right to make a retention from the security deposit to cover additional cleaning costs if the client leaves the property in an unacceptable condition.
  14. Damage – The client is responsible for any damage or loss caused to the Owners or their property by his act, omission, default or neglect and agrees to indemnify the Owners and to pay on demand any amount reasonably required to make good or remedy any such damage or loss.
  15. Vehicles and Personal Belongings – Vehicles, baggage and personal belongings are at the client’s risk at all times. No responsibility can be accepted by the Owners for loss or damage to vehicles and/or personal effects.
  16. Bed Linen – Provided in the form of duvet, duvet covers, bottom sheets, pillow and pillow cases. Towels, including pool towels, are provided. Beds will be made up on arrival. Extra changes of bed linen will be charged at 15.00€ per change.
  17. Dogs – Owners are happy to accept, by prior arrangement, well behaved dogs at an additional charge of 30€ per dog per stay. All dogs must be kept on a lead at all times (we have free range chickens and ducks on the premises) and the client is responsible for clearing up after their dog(s). Dogs must not be left unattended at any time in the gîtes or grounds.
  18. The Owners reserve the right to close any of the on-site facilities for any reason at any time. If we do have to close a facility we will not entertain any claims for a refund or discount.
  19. The owners shall not be liable to the client for:
    • temporary defect or stoppage in the supply of public services to the property nor in respect of any equipment, plant, machinery, or appliances in the property or grounds.
    • any loss, damage or injury which is the result of adverse weather conditions, riot, war, strike or other matters beyond the control of the Owners
    • any loss or damage or inconvenience caused or suffered by the client should the property be rendered unavailable as a result of circumstances beyond the control of the Owners.
  20. Under no circumstances shall the Owner’s liability to the client exceed the amount paid to the owners for the rental period.
  21. Smoking – There is a strict No Smoking policy inside each gîte.
  22. Fire Extinguishers – These are provided in the kitchen area and clients should locate them and identify their means of evacuation in the event of a fire.
  23. The Owners undertake to repair or replace any faulty equipment with all due diligence. However, no claims will be entertained in respect of equipment which remains faulty or out of use for reasons beyond our control.
  24. The Owners reserve the right to decline accommodation and demand the immediate withdrawal of any persons or dogs behaving in a manner detrimental to the property or comfort of other guests.
  25. Data Protection – By making a reservation you consent to information provided by you being used by the Owners as required. The Owners may contact you from time to time with details of special offers etc., but will not release your details to any other party. If you do not wish for this to happen please let us know.
